Today on Green Wedding Shoes

Hello and happy fall!

We are so happy today to be featured on Green Wedding Shoes. We had the honor of doing the flowers featured in the woodsy "deer me" themed shoot styled by Lovebird Style. All these lovely images were captured by the team at Love is a Big Deal, the invitation, and place markers were designed by Red Ribbon Fox, who is always right on target with any theme. The models were oh so sweet, decked out by Monkey Suit Vintage (his jacket and hat) and Winifred Bean (her dress). Hair and Makeup were perfectly executed by Jordan Byers, and that awesome vintage cabin, surrounded by open fields and beautiful woods? that is Paradise Cabin, just outside of Nashville, Tn.

A petite bridal bouquet.

A crown of ferns and tiny blooms.

Ahh, you can't beat that lighting.

Such an absolutely striking couple...

Chelsee and Josh

Chelsee and Josh were wed at the beautiful Travelers Rest Plantation in Nashville, Tn. For her flowers, Chelsee wanted a garden theme, but without the heavy feel of traditional garden florals. She loved different types of foliages, David Austin roses and things being "shaggy" and "askew". With perfectly mismatched decor and bridesmaids dresses, her flowers were intentionally imperfect, airy, and as varied in size and texture as could be mustered. With Jessica of Love Bird Style making the brides collections of heirlooms and antiques into a dream setting for a southern wedding, and the talents of Souder Photography capturing every detail.

Allison and Stu's lakehouse wedding!

Allison wanted the "walked through a field of wildflowers" effect. She had some gorgeous birch covered pots, and a pile of mason jars to work with, so I filled the vessels all a little differently, with materials that matched her yellow and white palette, and accented with fresh greens and herbs. With styling done by the ever talented Lovebird Style, her decor, flowers, and indeed, all the details of her big day came together beautifully. Take a look, and see for yourself.

To Add a little interest and even more texture to the mason jar centerpieces, some of them got accented with a few old fashioned macrame knots.

Allisons bouquet came together with a little bit of everything in it, lavender, rosemary, asters, poppy pods, yarrow, and Queen Annes Lace.

Today on Ruffled!

Ruffled featured Lace*Paper*Flowers today and our "April Showers" shoot. The flowers were so minimal but so fun for this project. I knew when I mentioned a rain themed shoot to Jessica of Lovebirdstyle.com, she would know if it could be as awesome as I hoped it could be, and, of course, she made that happen.

For the tabletop pieces, I used rain gauges as bud vases, each housing a ranunculus, which are an early blooming flower, and their big burst of tiny petals always reminds me of splashing water, maybe thats just me.

The large centerpiece was inspired by puddles in early spring, the way they have the blossoms from trees floating in them right after a shower.

The wellies with the flowers are mostly because who can resist putting flowers into those cute little wellies? They were the perfect whimsical arrangement for the dessert table, which featured "cotton candy clouds" in martini glasses.

The flowers, ranunculus, freesia, and Solomans seal, were selected because they are early spring flowers, which fit the theme of "April Showers Bring May Flowers"

I hope you enjoy the pictures, but I didn't do it alone. Visit the full post on Ruffled, and be sure to visit Lovebird Style and of course Ulmer Studios, who took all of the lovely shots here, and Red Ribbon Fox, who is also a member of Lace * Paper * Flowers.

Hooks Hitched on Halloween

Rupa and Nate, as awesome people sometimes do, were married on my most beloved of holidays...Halloween. They went with it, and embraced the black, white and orange with gusto. When I first met with them and they started outlining their style, and what they were going to be doing, I knew I was meant to do their flowers. After all, they had the same approach to Halloween as I did (I was engaged on Halloween) and they were both creative types with creative jobs, that knew what they wanted, but were also comfortable letting me have some license with the whole thing. The flowers were only used in a few select areas, but they had a great impact on the overall decor, which was "tasteful, classy, Halloween"

The Centerpieces:
Rupa had these lanterns that she wanted to use, with floral accents. I used minimal adhesives, so that the lanterns could easily be restored after the wedding, and laced them with bittersweet vines. I topped them with tall curly willow to ad drama and height. I crowned the lanterns with large white spider mums (the couples favorite, and perfect for the holiday) and then hung mini garlands of mums down the sides of the lanterns.

The Bridesmaids:

While the concept and construction of the bridesmaids bouquets was fairly simple, the planning and preparation was lengthy. My local Dahlia grower and I discussed these flowers months in advance, and these dahlias were the last of the crop to be picked, just in time, the morning before the first frost of the season eliminated the rest of his Dahlias. Since I knew this to be a possibility, I kept close tabs on the crop so that Rupa's bridesmaids could cary these perfect Halloween flowers.

The Groom:

Nates bout was a spikey mum, curly willow, and twisting black scrolled accents to compliment the decor.
